Our recent trip to Romania ended in a way we were not expecting!
We’ve only just finished up our trip through Romania, and as always, we were in search of the country’s most mouth-watering local food. One stop we had been especially looking forward to was the stunning medieval city of Brașov. With its colourful old town, cobbled streets and postcard-perfect mountain backdrop, Brașov is a destination that’s easy to fall in love with.
Exploring the best of Brașov food
The first stop in a new city is always the food. On one of our first days there, we headed into the old town to film our first Brașov food tour video. We spent the day wandering through the historic centre, enjoying the beautiful architecture while we hunted for the best food we could find. We tasted freshly baked kürtőskalács (chimney cake), flaky strudel, traditional Transylvanian stews and some of the most indulgent gogoși we’ve had to date. Every meal we ate was made with fresh, local ingredients and the love that comes from people extremely proud of their city. The incredibly friendly local people we met along the way truly made the whole day that bit extra special.
As is our ‘Hungry Two Travel’ way, this day became one of our latest YouTube videos, hoping to share a little taste of Brașov with you!

More than just great Brașov food
We have to say, one of our favourite things about travelling is discovering the local dishes that make each destination unique. Romania is full of delicious regional cuisine, and Brașov was no exception. Beyond the famous medieval streets and impressive architecture, we found a city with a rich food culture that’s well worth exploring.
But then… A surprise we never expected
A few days after publishing the video, something completely unexpected happened.
While browsing online, we discovered that a Romanian travel website had written an article about our video.
To say we were surprised would be an understatement.
As food travel creators, we always hope that the videos and stories we share inspire you to explore new places and try new and interesting foods… at least once that is. You’ve got to try everything at least once, sometimes twice, we like to say ; ) Yet, having people from a destination we’ve featured appreciate our work is an amazing feeling. Knowing that locals enjoyed seeing us experience their city and traditional cuisine honestly means so much to us.
The article, published by Brașov Romania, highlights our food tour through the city and shares some of our favourite dishes from the video. It was incredible to see our excitement for traditional Romanian food reflected back through the eyes of people who know Brașov best.

Why this meant so much to us
One of the things we’ve always hoped to do through Hungry Two Travel is encourage you to experience a destination through its local food. To step out of your comfort zone and taste things you may never have dreamed of! We believe some of the best travel memories happen around a table, at a food stall on the side of the road, or inside a small family-run restaurant. These moments are shared between friends, family, or incredible locals you encounter along the way. Food has an amazing way of connecting people, cultures and stories, and that’s exactly what we try to capture in every video we create.
To have that recognised by a local publication in Romania is something we’re incredibly grateful for.
So, a huge thank you to everyone in Brașov who welcomed us, shared their food with us and made our visit so memorable. We absolutely loved exploring their city, and we can’t wait to return one day to discover even more of what Brașov, and Romania, has to offer.
